Why do I love twitter? There are a number of reasons, but the number one reason is the connections! There are some many people that I never would have met if it wasn’t for twitter. Twitter allows you to interact with others in your area or who have similar interests.
A year ago I had my first twitter “celebrity encounter”. I’d been following some out-of-town agents and was able to meet them at last year’s REBARKC. It was great! I was also able to meet a bunch of other people at that event using the events hashtag. A hashtag (#) allows you to follow people who are tweeting about the same topic. For example, the hashtag for REBARKC is #rebckc. At least year’s event I started tweeting with Kristin, a fellow Realtor. We finally met a few months after the event. She has become one of my great friends and someone I can count on. I never would have met her without twitter.
Another twitter success story… I LOVE biggest loser. Well, there is a hashtag for Biggest Loser, #BL12 (that’s for the current season, the number depends on the current season). It’s a great way to meet others who enjoy working out and love watching the show. One person I started to follow was Fit Bottomed Girl. Turns out, not only does she have a nationally known website, but one of the founders is right here in KC – about 5min from my house! I participated in a weight loss challenge with her, have sought advice from her, gone on dog walks and we’ve become friends!
I’ve been very lucky that I’ve met some amazing people on twitter that have become friends. But I also get a lot of great information from twitter. You can always find the latest news & events that someone has tweeted about! I also follow many of the local news stations and newscasters to keep up on events.
Twitter isn’t for everyone but I love it! I’d be more than happy to teach anyone the basics!
