Getting Yourself Ready to be a First Time HomeBuyer

Buying your first house can be a complicated process, and event somewhat intimidating. There is just so much to remember, seemingly, from the ‘dos and don’ts’ of home buying to simply having the right attitude. However, home-buying shouldn’t be the intimidating process as it seems! It should be a time in your life to celebrate! Here are a few tips to get yourself ready to buy.

Getting Yourself Ready To Be A FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER:

– Get pre-qualified & pre-approved by a loan officer
– Have the necessary funds in your checking account to write an initial earnest money check
– If you are receiving a “gift letter” for a portion of your down payment, be sure to have the money transferred to your savings account
– Pay balances on revolving credit cards (and do not apply for any new ones!)
– Do not make big purchases prior to getting loan approval and closing on your new home
– Be aware of the dates you can move (Do you have a lease? Are these dates flexible?)
